Spin-orbit interaction, topology, and quantum information in solids

PhD type:
Doctoral School of Physical Sciences
Year:
2019/2020
Unit:
BME Fizikai Intézet
Address of unit:
1111 Budapest, Budafoki u. 8.
Description:

In contemporary condensed-matter physics, spin-orbit interaction plays a pivotal role, e.g., in control and decoherence of spin-based quantum bits, in topological insulators and superconductors, as well as in the formation of exotic magnetic structures. The task of the PhD student is to join the ongoing research efforts in this area in the Department of Theoretical Physics. The primary goal is to theoretically analyze experimental setups where the interplay of spin-orbit interaction and topological properties might be utilized in quantum information science and technology.
