Leírás:
Single defect centers in solids and strongly correlated electron-hole pairs emerge as candidates for quantum bits. For the earlier, the nitrogen vacancy center in diamond arose, whereas for the latter the triplet excitons in carbon nanotubes are to be studied. We develop the instrumentation and realization of ODMR studies in these systems while studying their fundamental, qubit application related properties. The task of the applicant is to develop our unique, near-infrared ODMR setup for pulsed operation and to study the spin and optical life-time in the above systems. The ultimate goal being the manipulation and readout of quantum information or possible the information transfer from NV centers towards single walled carbon nanotubes.
These studies will be carried out in close collaboration with the Wigner Research Center for Physics.
