Leírás:

The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at the CERN European Research Centre for Nuclear Physics investigates the fundamental forces in Nature, by colliding protons and heavy ions travelling nearly at the speed of light. Substantial progress has been made in the past decades, from the discovery of the Higgs boson to the exploration of the quark-gluon plasma (QGP). However, the exact mechanisms that lead to the formation, thermalization and hadronization of the QGP are not yet fully understood. Therefore the community plans to build a completely new detector system with an extremely sensitive high-acceptance silicon-based tracking system for the high-luminosity LHC era. This experiment, the ALICE 3, will provide insights into the microscopical dynamics of QGP via
leptonic and heavy-flavor measurements with an unprecedented precision. Furthermore, it will be able to detect yet undiscovered or not well known exotic particles, such as tetraquarks, charm-deuterons and hypernuclei.
The Budapest group is responsible in the research and development of the Muon Identification (MID) system for ALICE 3.
The PhD candidate is expected to contribute to the field with original research that concentrates on detailed predictions for physics observables such as the cross-section of heavy-flavor tetraquark production, as well as to the studies of the MID. They will also be responsible for fulfilling the commitments toward data taking and analysis at the ALICE experiment.
